About
Woven Community started out as a group of friends--some who grew up in the church, some who did not. Everyone found great value in church, but many were not regularly attending a Sunday worship service. Now this group of friends has expanded into a congregation inspired to find the beauty and richness of Jesus in everyday life--in traditions and imagination, in the church and outside the church, in the expected and the unexpected. A progressive evangelical congregation adapting traditions of the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), Woven is a community that explores something new about Jesus--a safe place to learn, to process, and to grow.
Gatherings like our annual Beer & Carols event at a local Fresno area pub every December, monthly meet up dinners at the food trucks at Gazebo Gardens, and quarterly Q&A sessions with people who come from all over our city to speak about their life and career--these shape the culture at Woven that values hospitality and welcomes questioning.
Join Woven Community on a Sunday and experience it for yourself.
SUNDAY WORSHIP
ARRIVE.
Each Sunday we gather at 5 p.m. on the campus of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The service begins closer to 5:10 p.m.. Most people park in the main parking lot off Santa Ana and Thorne Avenues. Worship is in the Calvin Room, the building next to the main sanctuary.
WORSHIP.
Our evening worship is marked by a balance of tradition and imagination, incorporating liturgy and modern prayers and perspective. Sometimes we sing songs and hymns to guitar and cello, other times we listen and reflect. The teaching explores the intersection of the Bible with our world and the people of today. You can bring your real and honest self into worship, including doubts and questions, unspoken hopes and shared requests for prayer.
The first Sunday of each month we celebrate communion and a potluck--a regular reminder that we are all invited to the table and we all contribute in our own way.
